I Love You

The words hang in the air, like the late

night fog which shrouds the lake.

I love you……

I said it, although the thought has been constant

in my mind lately,

I never intended the words to leave my lips,

to be spoken or heard by the world

….or by you.

I said it….and I cannot unsay it….

nor do I know if I wish to.

I only know that it scares me.

Thoughts of you fill my mind…

my entire being with

feelings of ecstasy, yet trepidation lingers…

for I have laid my heart and soul

open to you…..

…..for you to

accept

or reject.
